UK House of Commons votes to postpone Brexit

Published on 19/03/2019

The UK House of Commons has overwhelmingly agreed to postpone the Brexit date. However, it remains to be seen whether the EU will agree.

After all, that would require all EU member states to vote in favour. As a result, uncertainty in the UK continues, which is disastrous for the economy. Consumer confidence is plummeting, business investment is falling sharply and, meanwhile, more and more capital is disappearing abroad. Bankruptcies also continue to rise in the UK. Only when the outcome - whatever it will be - is clear will there be a return to calm and eventually balance. That is far from the case at present.
