Jeroen: \u201cIf I had to summarise my professional career, \u2018abroad\u2019 would be a recurring theme. I completed a Master\u2019s degree in International Relations in Denmark, undertook two work placements in Suriname and also taught as a visiting lecturer at a university in Costa Rica. I have also taught on an international business programme in Zeeland and was a lecturer at The Hague University of Applied Sciences. Alongside my role as a lecturer, I worked as a researcher for the New Finance research group, where I conducted research into the monetary system. I enjoyed teaching \u2013 preparing the lectures, inspiring a group of students and the interaction you have when you\u2019re standing in front of the class. It\u2019s wonderful to see students gain new insights thanks to your explanations. And that\u2019s exactly what I love about my current job: building relationships and advising on (international) business.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Passionate and driven<\/h2>\n

\u201cWhen I returned from Costa Rica with my wife and our eldest daughter, I was approached by a credit insurer who asked if I\u2019d like to come and work for them. The prospect of working in the private sector, engaging with great companies and being able to add value for them really appealed to me. The move from insurer to broker at Xolv was a logical step for me; I enjoy engaging with companies at an earlier stage, and I now have that opportunity. When there\u2019s something I\u2019m passionate about, I really throw myself into it. I\u2019d describe myself as enthusiastic and driven. Both in my work and in my private life. A good example of this is my road bike \u2013 these days, it goes everywhere with me, even when we go on holiday abroad as a family.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Challenge<\/h2>\n

\u201cDo I miss working abroad? Not at all \u2013 we\u2019ve got other priorities at the moment. We now have a second daughter, and our eldest is already at school. We live in a lovely, child-friendly neighbourhood and are really enjoying life there. That\u2019s not to say, mind you, that we\u2019re no longer adventurous. Just before our eldest started school, we went backpacking through Asia as a family for five weeks. It was a very special trip, with lots of lovely moments and a great time together. At the same time, it was of course a challenge with two young children. But as you may have gathered, I do like a challenge!\u201d <\/span><\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"

Jeroen Haans has been working as a Senior Account Manager at Xolv since May. He is responsible for account management and the development of sales activities. A well-considered career move, Jeroen previously worked for a credit insurer, amongst other roles. One of the things he missed was being able to engage with companies at an earlier stage.
