The story of Bakeplus is inspiring, dating back to 1934. Grandpa Sars then established a flour business in Waalwijk. Can you picture it? He used a horse and cart to deliver flour to bakers. During the war, flour went on sale and his work disappeared. After the war, he started again. Talk about perseverance! Let's fast-forward. Over the years, there were several takeovers and mergers, and in 2011 two companies merged to form what is now Bakeplus. Some 10 years ago, the company came into the hands of an investment company, and since 2019 another member of the Sars family has been at the helm: Bob Sars.
Each his own expertise
Bob: "I have known Xolv partner Erik Bolsius for years from a relationship network and the golf league team. At the previous company where I worked, we were already doing business with Xolv, which has always been good. We have a very wide range of customers at Bakeplus and you can't always assess all the risks. With credit insurance, we cover certain risks. Our expertise is not in insurance, we like to work with a party that thinks along with us and we like to minimise the maintenance that needs to be done internally to manage our, quite substantial, portfolio. Xolv is not only proactive in thinking along, they are also strong reactively. We have questions on a regular basis, especially in the recent period when the number of insolvencies is rising. We are proactive about this ourselves, but I cannot say other than that Xolv handles our questions very well and quickly, also in its contact with the insurer. We as Bakeplus are extremely satisfied, we understand each other and each other's business well and Xolv really does more than just pass on insurance. That's where the added value is!"
